About the Inn

You are cordialBuilt in 1887ly invited to take a step back in time and experience The Sea Rose Inn. Built in 1857, this historic home was a stagecoach stop and inn for travelers prior to crossing the York River on their way north. The home was also a stop along the Underground Railroad, pre-civil war.

“Architecturally, York is a surviving late 17th and 18th century town. Its buildings are not great mansions but are the homes of the pioneers of this country. These homes and also the public buildings are in a remarkable state of preservation because of the work of local people who realize their proud history and contributions of their ancestors to the history of this country.” (1776-1976 Commemorative Publication of the York, Maine Bicentennial Committee)

Designed for comfort and convenience, The Sea Rose Inn is fully renovated and provides the perfect respite after a day of visiting the many aspects of historic York, Maine. Enjoy the The Cape Neddick “Nubble” Lighthouse, three beaches, the Cliff Path, Fisherman’s Walk along the York River, and the “Wiggly Bridge”. The area offers museums, antique homes, fine restaurants and shops. The Kittery Outlet Shops are a five minute drive.

This center hall colonial with wide planked floors has been lovingly restored. There are three guestrooms with en suite bathrooms on the second floor. Enjoy a full hot breakfast with extended continental options.

Jean and Mike are the creators and former owners of inns in York Harbor, Maine and the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. They returned to the scenic village of York and designed a new lodging experience. Their historic colonial home is complimented by the beauty of Victorian antiques. As experienced national and international travelers, they welcome their guests to visit, share travel adventures and discover all that the coastal village of York has to offer.
